Characteristics of the Hypocrites and Their Destination

[throughbitsnpcs] those who have believed then disbelieved.png

Verily, those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe (again), and (again) disbelieve, and go on increasing in disbelief; Allah will not forgive them, nor guide them on the (right) way. Give to the hypocrites the tidings that there is for them a painful torment. Those who take disbelievers for friends instead of believers, do they seek honor with them? Verily, then to Allah belongs all honor. And it has already been revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in talk other than that; certainly, in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell. — Quran 4:137-140

Allah states that whoever embraces the faith, reverts from it, embraces it again, reverts from it and remains on disbelief and increases in it until death, then he will never have a chance to gain accepted repentance after death. Nor will Allah forgive him, or deliver him from his plight to the path of correct guidance. This is why Allah said,

Allah will not forgive them, nor guide them on the (right) way…

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that his father said that Ahmad bin `Abdah related that Hafs bin Jami’ said that Samak said that `Ikrimah reported that Ibn `Abbas commented:

ثُمَّ ازْدَادُواْ كُفْراً

…and go on increasing in disbelief

“They remain on disbelief until they die.” Mujahid said similarly.

Allah then said:

Give to the hypocrites the tidings that there is for them a painful torment.

Hence, the hypocrites have this characteristic, for they believe, then disbelieve, and this is why their hearts become sealed. Allah describes the hypocrites as taking the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers, meaning they are the disbelievers’ supporters in reality, for they give them their loyalty and friendship in secret. They also say to disbelievers when they are alone with them, “We are with you, we only mock the believers by pretending to follow their religion.”

Allah said while chastising them for being friends with the disbelievers:

أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ الْعِزَّةَ

do they seek honor, with them

Allah then states that honor, power, and glory are for Him Alone without partners, and for those whom Allah grants such qualities too.

Allah said,

Whosoever desires honor, then to Allah belong all honor

But honor belongs to Allah, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites know not.

The statement that honor is Allah’s Alone, is meant to encourage the servants to adhere to their servitude to Allah and to be among His faithful servants who will gain victory in this life and when the Witnesses stand up to testify on the Day of Resurrection.

Allah’s statement:

And it has already been revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in talk other than that; certainly in that case you would be like them.

The Ayah means, if you still commit this prohibition after being aware of its prohibition, sitting with them where Allah’s Ayat are rejected, mocked at and denied, and you sanction such conduct, then you have participated with them in what they are doing. So Allah said, concerning the burden they will earn:

إِنَّكُمْ إِذاً مِّثْلُهُمْ

(But if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them.

Allah’s statement,
(Surely, Allah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell.) means, just as the hypocrites participate in the Kufr of disbelievers, Allah will join them all together to reside in the Fire for eternity, dwelling in torment, punishment, enchained, restrained and in drinking boiling water

Blog-aholic Award

Thank you again for the nomination, sister. Jazakillahu khairan.

You can check out her wonderful blog: Diary of a Revert Muslimah. She writes beautiful Islamic poetry and shares quick n’ easy recipes I bet you’ll all love.

My best blog post? Definitely this:

Three facts about myself:

  1. I am an active Quora user. I visit the site almost on a daily basis and answer interesting questions about Islam, Muslims, the hijab, and other topics. I’m not an expert or scholar, but I am a student of Islamic knowledge and I only answer Islamic questions if I know the answer.
  2. I talk to myself all the time when I’m alone. I don’t usually talk to other people so if there’s something I want to express but can’t, I tell it to myself. After all, next to Allah and the angel/s He has sent to protect me, I am my best companion.
  3. I speak a little but write a lot. When I speak, my voice is usually inaudible. But when I write, my words are delivered like a lion’s roar.

Finally, I nominate the following blogs for Blog-aholic Award:

Have a nice day, everyone! 😘

BarakAllahu feekum.

There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death

[throughbitsnpcs] black cumin

A native to south and southwest Asia, the seeds of the Fennel flower (Nigella sativa) or black cumin, as it is often called, is one of the most revered medicinal plants/seeds in history.

One of black cumin’s most popular and effective uses is the treatment of diseases related to the respiratory system: including asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism and cold symptoms. The seeds help increase body tone, stimulate menstrual period, and increase the flow of breast milk in nursing mothers.

Black cumin seed oil helps calm the nervous system, quells colic pain, stimulates urine production, helps treat pertussis, improves digestion and helps prevent and lower high blood pressure.

The seeds are very effective in curing abscesses and tumors of the eye, abdomen and liver, probably due in great part to the anti-tumor compound beta-sitosterol found in the seeds.

Black cumin seed helps stimulate energy and helps in recovery from fatigue and low spirits. It is also an effective cure for skin conditions such as allergies, eczema, acne, psoriasis and boils. It is anti-parasitic and helps in the treatment of flatulence, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, constipation and dysentery. [source]

Although most formal research and studies of Nigella sativa benefits were conducted recently, this amazing botanical has already been used and mentioned in the hadith. Here is one from Sahih al-Bukhari (5687):

Narrated Khalid bin Sa`d:

We went out and Ghalib bin Abjar was accompanying us. He fell ill on the way and when we arrived at Medina he was still sick.

Ibn Abi ‘Atiq came to visit him and said to us, “Treat him with black cumin. Take five or seven seeds and crush them (mix the powder with oil) and drop the resulting mixture into both nostrils, for `Aisha has narrated to me that she heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, ‘This black cumin is healing for all diseases except As-Sam.’

Aisha said, ‘What is As-Sam?’ He said, ‘Death.”

However, when buying black cumin seed oil, one should check the labels and product information carefully. Black cumin is commonly referred to as black seed oil, black onion seed, black caraway, black sesame seed, and other names, but only Nigella sativa is true black cumin.

Do not mock a pain you have not endured

Likening the gods of the Idolators to the House of a Spider

[throughbitsnpcs] spider home is the weakest home.png

{ The parable of those who seek protectors from other than Allah is that of a spider who builds a house; but indeed, the weakest of houses is the spider’s house—if they but knew. }  Al-‘Ankabut 29:41

This is how Allah described the idolators in their reverence of gods besides Him, hoping that they would help them and provide for them, and turning to them in times of difficulties. In this regard, they were like the house of a spider, which is so weak and frail, because by clinging to these gods they were like a person who holds on to a spider’s web, who does not gain any benefit from that. If they knew this, they would not take any protectors besides Allah. This is unlike the Muslim believer, whose heart is devoted to Allah, yet he still does righteous deeds and follows the Laws of Allah, for he has grasped the most trustworthy handle that will never break because it is so strong and firm. Then Allah warns those who worship others besides Him and associate others with Him that He knows what they do and the rivals they associate with Him. He will punish them for their attribution, for He is All-Wise and All-Knowing.

{ Verily, Allah knows what things they invoke instead of Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. } Al-‘Ankabut 29:42

[Tafsir ibn Kathir, Surat Al-‘Ankabut, Verses 41-42]
